Jesi Mullins
Acting in feature film: Jesi Mullins, a graduate of UND who performed in many area theater productions, including as a lead in the summer 2009 Crimson Creek production of "Hair," recently attended the New York premier of "Return to Start." She has a role in the independent feature film by award-winning director Ken Castellano, that explores what happens at the crossroads of life and love, said a news release. Mullins plays Shelley, a kind and supportive teacher unaware that the long-term relationship she treasures is being put in danger. Mullins also was featured in the History Channel's "Zombies: A Living History" and starred in the original off-off Broadway production of "Have You Tried Sexxx?" ArtWise
April 17-19 at the Alerus: The ArtWise Elementary Art Show will be from 4 to 8 p.m. April 17-19 at the Alerus Center Ballroom, with 4,000 works of art by area schoolchildren and activities for all ages. Children will be able to make cave art, explore a gigantic timeline, dig for artifacts, design mosaics, pat¬tern fabrics and etch the king's and queen's gold coins, a news release said. Apollo Male Chorus
April 20 in East Grand Forks: The Apollo Male Chorus will present a concert at 7 p.m. April 20 at the East Grand Forks Performing Arts Center, featuring classic choral numbers, songs of the sea, spirituals and contemporary choral pieces. The concert will be dedicated to the memory of longtime East Grand Forks choral director Don Danielson, who died in 2010. Mark Bliven, East Grand Forks Class of 1977 and a student of Danielson's, sings baritone and is secretary of the Apollo organization. The Apollo chorus, established in 1895 and directed by Roger Satrang Hoel, is one of the oldest continuously performing male choruses in the United States. Organizer: The concert was organized by Shelley Bares, director of choral activities at East Grand Forks Senior High School and Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
