At East Grand Forks Campbell Library: Storytime at East Grand Forks Campbell Library will resume at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 7 p.m. Thursdays with stories, interactive activities and crafts for preschool- to primary-age children and their caregivers. Sack Lunch Book Club: The Friends of the Campbell Library sponsors a Sack Lunch Book Club at 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month beginning Sept. 14. For a reading list, stop at the library or go to http:/library.egf.mn/Activities. Readers Theatre: Read with a small group from radio scripts, short plays, and poetry. Read for the library's Dial-a-Story program. Meetings begin Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. and usually meet twice monthly throughout the year. Writers Groups: Writers Groups resume from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 16. 'Persian Cats'
Thursday in Fargo: The independent film "No One Knows About Persian Cats" will be shown at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at Fargo Theatre. It was co-written by Roxana Saberi of Fargo, a journalist who was charged with espionage in Iran and imprisoned for three months in 2009.
After the film, co-sponsored by Fargo Theatre and Concordia College, Saberi and Concordia College professors Greg Carlson and Richard Gilmore will discuss the film and the process of making it. The film: Directed by Iranian filmmaker Bahman Ghobadi, it is the story of two young musicians who are released from an Iranian prison and want to form a band. The film, which has English subtitles, won a special jury prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and other prizes. About Saberi: The 1997 graduate of Concordia has a cameo appearance in the film in addition to her writing role. She will be in the theater lobby from 6 to 7 p.m. to sign her book "Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran." Movie tickets: $5.
