Intercollegiate Band
UND students picked to perform: Fourteen students from the UND Wind Ensemble performed with the 10th annual North Dakota Intercollegiate Band, joining with music students from seven other North Dakota colleges and universities in Jamestown, N.D., for rehearsals and a performance Feb. 11-12. Guest conductor and clinician was Russel Mikkelson, director of University Bands and professor of music at Ohio State University. UND band/Children's Choir
March 3 in Grand Forks: The UND Wind Ensemble and University Band and guests the Grand Cities Children's Choir will perform at 8 p.m. March 3 at Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks. The UND Wind Ensemble will preview the program it will present March 20 at the 2011 North Dakota Music Educators Association Conference on March 20 in Bismarck, with works by Shostakovich, Eric Whitacre and others. The University Band will present works by Jack Stamp, Brian Balmages and others. The Children's Choir will feature the older students in the program who are members of Primo Voce and their performance will feature numbers with the UND Wind Ensemble. Feb. 24 at Chester Fritz: The U.S. Air Force Tops in Blue will present "We Believe," a celebration of American ideals and values in song and dance, at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at UND Chester Fritz Auditorium. The show is free and open to the public, and no tickets will be issued.
Comic-Con
Feb. 26 in Moorhead: Fargo-Moorhead Comic-Con featuring DC/Marvel comic creator Joel "Mojo" Moen and other comic creators will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 26 at Eastgate Event Center, Moorhead. Fargo-Moorhead Comic-Con is the celebration of comics and popular culture in print, film and television, games, toys, art and all media. Highlights will be local and regional vendors of all things comics and also assorted memorabilia, games-including Pathfinder, a role-playing game, assorted video game events, panels and workshops and the Superhero Smackdown. Morriscode is Robert Dale Morris of Grand Forks, a longtime musician who grew up in Grand Forks and lived and worked in Minneapolis and Charleston, S.C., before returning to Grand Forks in 2006, according to a news release.
