- Shows tonight and Thursday: Country music singer/songwriter Ashley Buchart will perform at 9:30 tonight at The Warehouse on 3rd in Devils Lake and at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Big Daddy's Lounge, Grand Forks. Buchart hails from Parker, Colo., and was raised in a family with deep roots in the arts, her bio says. Her music combines the classic styles of artists such as Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson with modern country styles. Buchart began performing, especially dancing, as a child and was accepted to the Denver School of Arts vocal music program. She graduated in December 2008 and released her first album, "Trouble in a Pair of Shorts," in June 2009. She has made a name for herself on the honkytonk circuit. Coffee with Lisa

- Today at UND Bookstore: "Coffee With Lisa," an event to recognize UND Bookstore Customer Service Manager Lisa Simonson, will begin at 10 a.m. today at Tower Cafe in UND Bookstore. Simonson was honored with the Follett Values in Action Award for Customer Service from candidates from more than 800 stores, a news release said. She and others received awards at a company managers' conference this summer in Florida. She then was selected as the top candidate among the others and was presented the Follett Presidential Award for Customer Service at the company's home office in Chicago. Info: (701) 777-4980.

'Saturday Night Fever'

- Tonight at the Empire: The Art & Democracy Film Series will present the 1977 John Travolta movie "Saturday Night Fever" at 7 tonight at Empire Arts Center, Grand Forks. The film series features free films followed by audience discussion hosted by Jack Weinstein, UND professor of philosophy and director of the Institute for Philosophy in Public Life at UND. 'Odd Couple'

- Opening on Thursday at Fire Hall: Pat DeMars will be Oscar and Dave Paukert will play Felix in the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre production of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple," which opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Fire Hall Theatre, Grand Forks. Show dates: 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 7-9 and Oct. 14-16; 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 10. Director: Jared Kinney. - Sunday at Rutland, N.D.: The 26th annual Uffda Day will be Sunday at Rutland, N.D., with a dinner from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. of scalloped potatoes with ham and Scandinavian food served at City Hall.
