Santa Village opens Thursday with sleigh rides and more

Santa Claus and his elves have set up their annual Santa Village workshop at Lincoln Park Golf Course Clubhouse and will open beginning Thursday to meet the public, make ornaments and share cocoa and cookies.

Santa Claus and his elves have set up their annual Santa Village workshop at Lincoln Park Golf Course Clubhouse and will open beginning Thursday to meet the public, make ornaments and share cocoa and cookies.

The clubhouse, at Elks Drive and Belmont Road, will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, on Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17; from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, on Dec. 11 and 18, and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays, on Dec. 12 and 19.

Santa will be there from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

To be admitted, please bring canned food, a new toy or a cash donation.

Visitors can take a sleigh ride and enjoy activities for all ages, sponsored by the Grand Forks Park District, a news release said.

Mondays through Thursdays are open to groups and Christmas parties by appointment only. To register an appointment, call Lynn Roche at (701) 740-7435.

'North Pole Calling'

"North Pole Calling" is a new Park District program in which parents can have their kindergartner or first-grader talk directly to Santa or Mrs. Claus. Applications must be received by Dec. 20. Calls will be made from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 20.

Application forms are available at the Park District office, 1210 Seventh Ave. S., or online at www.gfparks.org . You can fax completed forms to (701) 746-2753.

Parents can even suggest messages they'd like Santa or Mrs. Claus to impress on their children, such as: "Eat your vegetables" or "do your chores."
