Roseau, Minn., author Dean Hedlund will be at the Roseau Public Library from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to autograph books and talk about his book "Old Tracker Joe and the Stone-Hearted Smuglies," which will be published next April.
Artist and book illustrator Marv Espe is expected to join the event about the book, which tells a fictionalized story in rhyme. Hedlund, who grew up at Malung, Minn, and Espe, a native of Beaver Township near Hayes Lake, Minn., worked to capture the spirit of hard-working rural folk and to depict forests and swamps, a news release said.
In mid-June, an exhibit of Espe's framed art will open at the library.
Also Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Sons of Norway and Roseau Area Library Friends will sponsor an informal discussion of "Stories Related to Scandinavia and Scandinavian-Americans."
