Riverdance, an international show of Irish music and dance, will play a Feb. 28 performance at Chester Fritz Auditorium in Grand Forks as th show embarks on a U.S. tour set to close in June, it was announced Friday.
Tickets for the show will go on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday, ranging from $48.50 to $58.50, available at the Chester Fritz Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com/venue/49273/ .
Riverdance opened in March 1996 in New York. In a news release, Doherty said the show's producers never expected it still would be running 15 years later. Three years ago, Riverdance embarked on what it has called its farewell tour, it's goal to visit every city in North America it had played over the years before saying a "final goodbye." This, however, will be Riverdance's first visit to Grand Forks.
Riverdance had its U.S. premiere at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Since then, the show has tapped its way onto the world stage and, after the U.S. tour closes in June, Riverdance will continue to tour the world, the news release said.
Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Doherty and directed by John McColgan, Riverdance has played more than 10,000 performances, has been seen live by more than 22 million people in over 350 venues throughout 40 countries, a news release said.
