Former state senator and current KFGO-AM radio host Joel Heitkamp will soon undergo surgery to remove a benign brain tumor after suffering a seizure on Sunday, the station reported today.

In a video posted on the station's website, Heitkamp said he was at home with his family on Sunday when he laid down to take a nap and had a seizure.

He was taken by ambulance to Wahpeton, and an MRI test later revealed "a little something up there on my brain, and that all doctors now agree it's what caused me to seize," he said in the video.

The station reported Heitkamp as saying doctors have given him an excellent prognosis for recovery, expected to take about six to eight weeks.
