North Dakota author Mary Ellen Erickson has released her second book about the "Geezettes," three lifelong friends wrapped up in life in smalltown North Dakota.

Erickson plans to sell and promote "Geezettes Book Two: Golden Girls on the Prairie" at Dakota Holiday Showcase Nov. 5-6 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, a news release said. The book was published in paperback (184 pages) by iUniverse in April, and is Erickson's 10th book in all.

In "Geezettes Book Two: Golden Girls on the Prairie," Geezettes is a term of endearment for Rena, Melva and Madge. Melva has returned to smalltown Stuporville, N.D., to find Rena upset about community conditions and Madge facing personal health problems. Nevertheless, the three manage to shake up sleepy Stuporville when Rena decides to run for mayor and the "Golden Girls of the Prairie" attack community and personal problems head-on, a news release said.

"Geezettes Book Two" takes readers to the heart of friendship and shows them there's no better place to live and grow old than small-town America, the book description said.

Erickson, a Ph.D., lives on a farm in central North Dakota with her husband Dwayne. She is a retired teacher and school counselor who spent more than 30 years working with students K-12 in fields such as music, physical education, social studies, psychology, and guidance and counseling. She has a B.S. degree from Valley City (N.D.) State University, an M.S. degree from North Dakota State University, Fargo, and a Ph.D. from Walden University.
