The Myra Jazz Festival, an annual event that involves local schools and a performance by the Myra Jazz Arts Group, will be Feb. 19-20 at Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks with the final two sessions at Red River High School.
Guest clinicians for the event will be Fargo native Mike Christianson, a professional trombonist from New York City, and East Grand Forks native Chris Thomson, a saxophone player from Minneapolis.
Feb. 19 will be high school day and will feature the 1 p.m. concert by the Myra Jazz Arts Group and the guest clinicians. Feb. 20 will be middle school day, said Herb Thomson, one of the organizers of the event. Each school band that participates will have time to work with the clinicians and perform.
Both days of the festival are free and open to the public. Here's a schedule.
