"Remember My Song: A Benefit Concert Honoring Mark Solberg's Life in Music," a tribute to a UND student musician and a benefit for scholarships and support of the UND choirs, will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 9 at Chester Fritz Auditorium, Grand Forks.
The concert will feature the Grand Cities Children's Choir, the Central High School Choir, UND Concert Choir, Allegro and Varsity Bards and the Grand Harmony Chorus.
Solberg, who died May 2 at the age of 22, was passionate about music. As a boy, he sang with the Grand Cities Children's Choir. In high school, he was part of the cast for the 10th anniversary Summer Performing Arts production of "Keep the Faith," the musical written about the 1997 Grand Forks flood.
At Central High School, where he graduated with honors in 2007, Solberg participated in choir and jazz band. At UND, where he was in his fourth year with a major in rehabilitation and human services and a minor in music, he participated in Concert Choir, Jazz Choir and Varsity Bards.
He also sang with Valley Chordsmen (now Grand Harmony) of Grand Forks and loved karaoke performances at Rhombus Guys in downtown Grand Forks.
