Program includes popular tunes from classic films.
The UND University Band and the Vivo Chamber Choir will present “UND@theMovies!” in concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 at Chester Fritz Auditorium and via livestream. The concert is free.
The University Band is under the direction of James Popejoy and the Vivo choir is directed by Melanie Popejoy.
Those who attend the concert are asked to wear masks and should sit socially distanced from others in the auditorium to comply with the university’s safety protocols.
The musicians will be wearing masks, using bell covers on their instruments, and social distancing on stage, James Popejoy said.
The livestream and digital program will be available at https://arts-sciences.und.edu/academics/musicdepartment .
The concert will feature music from more than 20 film scores by composers including Alan Silvestri, Hans Zimmer and John Williams. The music was popularized in classic movies such as “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “The Magnificent Seven,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” as well as current science-fiction blockbuster films “Avengers: Endgame” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
