African arts festival

Friday at Empire Arts Center: The Empire Arts Center , located at 415 DeMers Ave., Grand Forks, will be hosting "Africa in Our Own Words and Colors," an African arts festival on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The festival includes painting, music, theater, poetry, dance and food. NDMOA Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction

Saturday at North Dakota Museum of Art: The North Dakota Museum of Art, located at 261 Centennial Dr., Grand Forks, will be holding their annual benefit dinner and silent auction on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Tables for eight and valet parking is available. 'When You Believe'

Saturday at Chester Fritz Auditorium : The Northern Valley Youth Orchestras will be performing their concert titled "When You Believe" at 7 p.m. at the Chester Fritz Auditorium, located at 3475 University Ave., Grand Forks. Myra Jazz Festival

Tuesday and Wednesday at Red River Performance Hall: Red River High School will host the Myra Jazz Festival on Tuesday and Wednesday, featuring middle and high school performers from across the area. Trombone player and composer Wycliffe Gordon and tenor sax player Chris Thomson will be working with the students, too. Local art exhibit

Through Feb. 28 at Urban Stampede : The World's Smallest Gallery, located inside Urban Stampede, 324 Kittson Ave., Grand Forks, will host an exhibit featuring artwork by 10 local artists through Feb. 28. The pieces - in a range of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor and wire sculpture - are also for sale. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
