Special Olympics North Dakota to host Polar Plunge on Saturday

If you're crazy enough to jump in the water outside during a North Dakota winter, why not do it for a good cause? Special Olympics North Dakota is hosting its annual Grand Forks Polar Plunge from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Choice Health and Fitness.

If you're crazy enough to jump in the water outside during a North Dakota winter, why not do it for a good cause?

Special Olympics North Dakota is hosting its annual Grand Forks Polar Plunge from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Choice Health and Fitness. A plunge pool will be set up in Choice's east parking lot for those willing to get in the water.

Participants must pay or raise at least $75 to do the plunge. Prizes will be awarded for the most money raised and also in fun categories such as best belly flop or best costume. Registration for the plunge begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, and there also will be an early plunge check-in event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. tonight at Choice. Participants must wear shoes while doing the plunge Saturday, and everyone should bring their own towels and a dry set of clothes to wear when it's over.

Spectators are encouraged to attend as well, and seating will be available.
