The first in a series of classical music concerts will feature an award-winning Russian pianist on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the North Dakota Museum of Art.
The performance by Arsentiy Kharitonov begins at 2 p.m. The same concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Mayville State University.
A prizewinner of national and international competitions, Kharitonov has been heard in solo recitals and with orchestras in Russia, Europe, Asia and the United States. His debut at Carnegie Hall was cited in the New York Observer as one of New York’s top six concerts of the 2015-16 season.
Sunday’s concert is the first of six performances in the Museum’s Classical Concert Series. Others are: Nov. 24 -- Cuban-American cellist Thomas Mesa with Russian pianist Ilya Yakushev; Jan. 19 -- Italian Saxophone Quartet; Feb. 23 -- L’Histoire du Soldat: The Soldier’s Tale; March 8 -- John Bruce Yeh, clarinetist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and father of Molly Yeh, of rural East Grand Forks, a popular food blogger, cookbook author and star of the Food Network’s “Girl Meets Farm”; and April 5 -- Dover Quartet.
Concert tickets are $35 for non-members, $30 for members and $15 for students and military. Children 12 and younger are admitted at no charge. Season tickets are also available.
