Nathan Haltiwanger has been hired as program manager for the Empire Arts Center, Emily Montgomery, the center’s executive director has announced.

Haltiwanger will oversee all aspects of the facility’s programming, including the Empire Theatre Company, The 1919 Lounge, and the new upcoming film series to be launched in January.

His duties also will involve box office operations, development and marketing assistance, and other areas, Montgomery said.

Haltiwanger, a native of New York, holds a master’s degree in opera performance from Arizona State University and has a wealth of experience in the performing arts and arts education, most recently working as a performer with the Ozark Actors Theatre in Rolla, Mo., Mongtomery said.

Some theater-goers here may recognize him from his role in the Empire Theatre Company’s production of “Next to Normal” in February, Montgomery said.
