MITCHELL, S.D. -- Tickets are on sale today to see country star Dwight Yoakam, who is among five acts for this year's Corn Palace Festival in Mitchell, S.D.
Yoakam will perform Aug. 22 inside the Corn Palace in Mitchell. His nearly 30-year career in country music has included 12 gold and nine platinum records. His debut album, "Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc.," went double platinum, and his album "This Time" went triple platinum.
He's famous for songs like "Thousand Miles From Nowhere" and "Honky Tonk Man."
"Getting Dwight Yoakam to lead off the festival is definitely a plus, but it's really a combination of all four nights of entertainment that are considered big acts," said Mark Schilling, Corn Palace director.
"America's Got Talent" winner Terry Fator, a ventriloquist, comedian and celebrity impersonator, will perform Aug. 23. Fator has headlined on the Las Vegas Strip since he won the hit television show.

"To be able to get Terry Fator in and to be able to do it at a price that's more affordable to go see him at the Corn Palace than on the Vegas strip, we're pleased with that," Schilling said.
Country star Craig Morgan will perform Aug. 24 with special guest Gloriana.
Schilling said acts like Morgan and up-and-coming Gloriana are what keep people coming to the festival.
Morgan has been a constant on the Top 10 charts for more than a decade with hits like "Red Neck Yacht Club" and "That's What I Love About Sunday." He has 14 Top 10 hits and recently released his seventh album, "This Ole Boy."
The trio Gloriana debuted in 2009 with a self-titled album and has quickly risen to fame. The group won the Breakthrough Artist award from the American Music Awards in 2009 and spent two years on the road with Taylor Swift. The group also won the American Country Music Award in 2010 for Top New Vocal Group.
The Happy Together Tour will return to the Corn Palace stage Aug. 25.
"One thing we heard last year as fans were leaving was, 'If you get them back again, we'll be back,' " Schilling said. "And one name I keep hearing with this group is Gary Lewis."
Gary Lewis and The Playboys will join The Happy Together Tour this year, along with other singers from various headlining groups from the 1960s -- The Turtles featuring Flo and Eddie; Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders; Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night; and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.
