Comparing Pink and Taylor Swift

FARGO -- Fans had to wait longer than expected, but they'll still get a chance to see Pink when the singer performs at the Fargodome on Saturday.

Just like the last big musician to play here, Taylor Swift on Sept. 6, Pink will sing a "colorful" set of songs about love when her concert kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

General Manager Rob Sobolik said about 21,500 fans are expected to be there. If Pink meets those projections, it would be the 14th-largest concert at the facility.

That's more than the 20,613 people that flocked to the Fargodome to see Swift, who drew the 15th-largest concert attendance. Both shows are well below the Fargodome's biggest concert, when George Strait drew 26,406 in March 1997.

A few tickets for Pink's concert were refunded or exchanged since the singer postponed several shows in October because of inflamed vocal cords and laryngitis.

But it will still be a sellout, and Sobolik said any tickets that became available in the past few months were "snapped up very quickly."

Preparing the Fargodome to handle the large crowd of Pink fans is mostly the same as getting ready for Swift last fall, Sobolik said. But there is one difference -- the kind of audience that these musicians draw in.

"It's a little older crowd for Pink than it was for Taylor Swift," he said. "There'll more than likely be more alcohol sales."

Albums all about love

• Swift: 38 million Twitter followers, 52.5 million Facebook likes and 1.9 billion YouTube views so far.

• Pink: Sold 40 million albums and 65 million singles from her six studio albums since her debut in 2000.

Three Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Top 10 singles and the title for most consecutive No. 1 songs on the Hot AC Chart with four.

The seven-time Grammy winner has the distinction of being the first female singer in music history -- and the first artist since the Beatles -- to log six or more weeks in the No. 1 spot with three consecutive studio albums.

Private life

• Pink: The 34-year-old Pink, aka Alecia Beth Moore, met professional motocross racer Carey Hart in 2001.

Their relationship has suffered two separations, but the pair married in 2006 and had their first child, Willow Sage Hart, on June 2, 2011.

• Swift: Swift, 24, has been romantically linked to several notable celebrities, including Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and One Direction member Harry Styles.

The famously unlucky-in-love pop star is now single, and told Wonderland magazine in 2013, "I have no idea if I'm going to get married or be single forever or have a family or just be on my own."
