A Chinese acrobatic troupe entertained a crowd Saturday night at the Chester Fritz Auditorium in Grand Forks with hoop diving, tight rope and other aerial acts.

This is the first time The China Circus featuring the Anhui Acrobatic Troupe visited the area, according to Tom Swangler, assistant director of the Chester Fritz.

More than 20 acrobats from China are in the troupe, which is considered one of the most skilled and award-winning in their country, according to a release. While troupes use traditional performances in their interpretation of classic Chinese dance, troupes from each province have distinctly different presentation, costume and performance styles, it stated.

Some event proceeds will benefit the Grand Forks United Way Imagination Library program, which gives children up to age 5 a free book each month.
