ArtWise to sponsor 'art crawl' Thursday-Sunday, Dec. 2-5
Several arts groups exhibiting original, one-of-a-kind artwork for sale in four-day Holiday Showcase event
ArtWise is sponsoring an art crawl from Thursday to Sunday, Dec. 2-5 in partnership with Archives Coffee House, the Muddy Waters Clay Center and Arts for Vets.
Many Grand Forks area artists are participating in the event during which these organizations will display original artwork for visitors to view and purchase, said Rita Haag, ArtWise director.
The Muddy Waters Clay Center, at 2014 13th Ave. N., will host its Holiday Showcase beginning on Thursday with a reception from 3 to 7 p.m. The showcase will continue Friday, from 1 to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Archives Coffee House, featuring artists and local vendors, will host its Holiday Market on Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Sunday, the coffee house will host a Children’s Story Hour, led by a Grand Forks Public Library staff member, at 10 a.m., followed by a program, titled “Music with Mama Maura,” at 11 a.m.
Molly Haagenson and other staff members at Archives are hoping that “everyone will come in, enjoy coffee, and shop” for items exhibited by local vendors, she said. The coffee house is located at 3012 University Ave.
The Arts for Vets organization will open its gallery at 215 N. Third St., on Thursday and Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Arts for Vets also is displaying artwork in the E Atrium at the UND Columbia Hall, 501 N. Columbia Road, which is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, Haag said.
ArtWise is continuing its Holiday Showcase, featuring the works of 25 artists at its location in the Columbia Mall’s center court, through Dec. 31.
The ArtWise Gallery, which is open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, features one-of-a-kind, originally designed artwork by local artists, Haag said, “and new artists are joining us all the time.”
About the upcoming Holiday Showcase, she said, “It is exciting to participate in this opportunity that will help out not only our organizations but also support our Grand Forks artists.”
