“Anna Was Here” by Jane Kurtz; Greenwillow Books, 2013, 288 pages.
Jane Kurtz, who received her MA in English from UND, recently released her latest book, “Anna Was Here.”
The book follows ten-year-old Anna Nickel, whose father has decided to move the family from Colorado to Kansas, forcing her to leave her friends behind. New friends, new school, a new community and a family of strangers await her, right in the middle of Tornado Alley. This moving, often humorous coming-of-age story about family, faith and the meaning of home is perfect for fans of Katherine Paterson and “The Penderwicks.”
Kurtz spent most of her childhood in Ethiopia before receiving her BA from Monmouth College in Illinois and her MA from UND. She now lives in Portland, Ore., and is on the faculty of the Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in children’s and YA literature.
“Anna Was Here” can be purchased for $13.23 from Amazon.com.
