Three out of five stars.

Maybe I'm old school, but I've always been a fan of board games.

The problem I often run into is finding a group of people who will actively sit down and play them with me. This becomes particularly challenging when it comes to more involved games such as Risk.

So in order to get my fill of "the game of global domination," I downloaded the app and began my conquest.

The app version of the game works almost identically to the board game version, with players beginning by placing troops in certain territories on the world map. Then, players take turns drafting more troops and attacking other countries in an attempt to eventually own all of the territories on the map.

The app, for the most part, is great and plays true to the board game. The graphics are fantastic, and the sound adds a cool dimension to the game.

When playing, you can play against five other opponents and put them on varying different difficulty levels, which can create a unique gaming experience every time you play the game.

When playing the mobile version of Risk, however, I run into the game being too easy even when I play against five other "expert" computer competitors.

By no means do I feel like I am the world's greatest Risk player, but I end up conquering the world about 95 percent of the time, oftentimes with relative ease.

With mobile games, I want the right amount of challenge. If it's too hard, I quit because I feel like I have no chance, but if it's too easy, I put the game down because I feel like I'm wasting my time.

After several easy wins through Risk, I put it down and haven't played it in weeks. The game has great potential but lacks a difficult challenge.

The game still gets relatively high marks for me because of how great the game functions, how well it plays and how beautiful the game looks. But if you're looking for a tough, challenging game, look elsewhere.
