REPORT OF THE PROCEEDINGS GRAND FORKS SCHOOL BOARD September 26, 2022 The School Board of Grand Forks Public School District No. 1 held a mentoring session and regular meeting on Monday, September 26, 2022, at the Mark Sanford Education Center with President Eric Lunn presiding. Board Members Present: Josh Anderson, Dave Berger, Amber Flynn, Monte Gaukler, Joel Larson, Eric Lunn, Jeff Manley, Bill Palmiscno, and Cynthia Shabb. Absent: None. Student Board Members Present: Ryaan Alshami and Maggie Barker. Absent: None. Others Present: Dr. Terry Brenner, Superintendent of Schools; Brandon Baumbach, Business Manager; Catherine Gillach, Associate Superintendent of Secondary Education; Dr. Brenda Lewis, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education; Brady Olson, Vice President, Grand Forks Education Association; and Cindy Johnson, Executive Secretary. Mentoring Session. 5:00-5:52 pm. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Call to Order: 6:00 pm Motion and second to approve the agenda as amended carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve the minutes of September 12, 2022, as written carried unanimously. Public Hearing on FY 2022-2023 Tax Levy: 6:02-6:09 pm. Discussed: ND Teacher of the Year, Reading of School Board Meeting Norms, HRS Update. Motion and second to approve the consent agenda as follows: Resignation of Ka Po Chow effective December 21, 2022, carried unanimously. Motion and second to allow 15 years of experience to be brought in for Chisom Ihe and approve his appointment at a date yet to be determined with placement on the salary schedule at BA/BS Step 16 at $56,542 carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve the General Fund Financial Statement for the period July 1, 2022, through August 31, 2022, as presented carried unanimously. Motion and second to designate Anderson, Gaukler, and Larson as voting delegates to the NDSBA Delegate Assembly carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve the Grand Forks Public Schools Annual Compliance Report for 2022-2023 carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve the appointments of Berger, Palmiscno, and Larson to the ICON/District Leadership Valley Middle School Referendum Committee carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve using the same process for the superintendent’s evaluations this year as has been used in past years carried unanimously. Motion and second to approve the student directory requests from the military recruiters, Grand Forks Fastbreak Club, and Doorway to College, and to send the policy back to the Policy Review Committee for further review carried unanimously.
