CITY OF THOMPSON REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING THOMPSON COMMUNITY CENTER January 3, 2022 The regular meeting of the City Council, City of Thompson, and County of Grand Forks, ND was held January 3, 2022 at 7:00 PM. Mayor Larimer, Council Members Bergeron, Hughes, Fretheim, City Administrator, Public Works and Plant Services were present. Council member Majkrzak, City Auditor and Chief of Police (COP) were absent. Mayor Larimer called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. He confirmed the next regular meeting will be held Monday, February 7, 2022. “Any Individual requiring special accommodations (i.e. alternative formatting of literature, an interpreter, or help in accessing the facility) should advise the City by contacting the City Auditor at PO Box 266, Thompson ND 58278, or by phone at 701-599-2973. Requests should be made seven (7) days prior to the meeting.” Council member Hughes motioned to approve the corrected City Council meeting minutes of November 1, 2021 and the City Council meeting minutes of December 6, 2021. Council member Bergeron seconded the motion. All said aye. The motion carried. Council member Bergeron motioned to approve the Financial Reports. Council member Fretheim seconded the motion. All said aye. The motion carried. Council member Hughes motioned to approve the payment of bills totaling $54,016.86. Council member Bergeron seconded the motion. All said aye. The motion carried. Mayor Larimer presented a resignation letter from Council Member Majkrzak. Council member Fretheim motioned to accept the resignation. Council member Hughes seconded the motion. All said aye. The motion carried. The Mayor, City Council and Staff wish to extend their appreciation for Council Member Majkrzak’s commitment and dedication to the community. Many wishes on her future endeavors. The Police Monthly Report was presented. There was no discussion. The Public Works Monthly Report was presented. A copy of the new building permit application was mailed to Garon and Applegren Construction. There has been no feedback to date. The seasonal, part-time, non-benefited maintenance position will be advertised on January 4, 2022. Deadline for applications is set for Friday, January 21, 2022. Council member Fretheim discussed a possible announcement system to which residents would subscribe in order to receive critical information from the city. He will research various options and present them at the February meeting. City Administrator provided an update on old business. Grand Forks County has agreed to aide in installation of speed reduction signs on Eighth Street. City Engineer Knutson will provide guidance as to location and speed. Once determined, the order will be placed with GF County for installation in the spring. The Comprehensive Grant Application is approximately 75% complete. The City Engineer and City Administrator are collaborating on the finished product. Submittal will be prior to January 31, 2022. City Administrator is also writing a grant for WSI. If awarded, WSI will provide 75% cost share for ergonomic improvements to the city offices. Cost to the city will not exceed $1,250.00. Council member Fretheim motioned to adjourn.
