UND became the first team since 2014 to sweep the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's weekly awards Monday -- and just the second team to do it since the league began in the fall of 2013.
Jordan Kawaguchi was named NCHC forward of the week; Jacob Bernard-Docker was named NCHC defenseman of the week; Adam Scheel was named NCHC goalie of the week and Shane Pinto was named NCHC rookie of the week.
The honors come on the heels of UND's 9-3 and 3-2 wins over rival Minnesota at 3M Arena in Mariucci. In the series opener, the Fighting Hawks set a record for most goals ever scored by an opponent at Mariucci, which opened in 1993.
The only other team to sweep NCHC weekly honors was St. Cloud State from Jan. 26-Feb. 1, 2015.
In the previous six years of the NCHC, UND has never won forward of the week three times in one season. Now, Kawaguchi has done it himself three times in the first half of this season.
The Abbotsford, B.C., product had three goals and an assist on the weekend. Kawaguchi scored the game-winning goal both nights. He leads the NCHC in scoring with 22 points.
Bernard-Docker had a goal and three assists on the weekend, running his point total to 14 for the season.
Pinto had a pair of goals and one assist in UND's sweep. It is the second time Pinto has earned the honor this season.
Scheel, meanwhile, won goalie of the week for the third time this season. He stopped 41 of 46 shots on the weekend.
UND, 12-1-2, plays at Western Michigan on Friday and Saturday to finish the first half of the season.
