Grand Forks has a new pizza place in Boss’ Pizza and Chicken, 951 S. 42nd St., adjoining the Baymont by Wyndham Hotel.
The pizza shop had a soft open on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Its first full day was Thursday.
“Absolutely wonderful, so excited,” said co-owner and operator Michael Pacheco when asked how he felt about the restaurant being open. “The customers coming in, everybody has been great, really love the community, it’s awesome."
The restaurant offers eat-in, takeout and delivery services. Boss’ also offers full table service and is available to cater orders with advance notice. The restaurant can seat nearly 40 people, and according to Pacheco, the dining area has been full for the past two nights.
“I have more options than pretty much any restaurant in town,” said Pacheco. “Thirty-six different specialty pizzas, 12 different appetizers, pasta, chicken. If you come here, you’re not just coming for pizza.”
The restaurant will be open Thursday to Saturday, opening at 11 a.m. and closing at 4 a.m., and from Sunday to Wednesday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
Boss' Pizza and Chicken recently received a beer and wine license from the Grand Forks City Council. Pacheco expects to begin serving alcohol in the upcoming weeks.
Pacheco was particularly excited about the chicken in his shop.
“My chicken is broasted. I get fresh chicken from Minnesota that’s never frozen, no steroids used in my chicken,” he said. “I’m a more quality than quantity type of guy.”
There’s plenty of “quantity” available, though. The restaurant serves a 28-inch pizza.
“Nobody in town has a pie this big, nobody,” Pacheco said.
