Grand Forks high schools are presenting their first productions of the year next week.
“Night of the Living Dead Live” will be performed at Red River High School.
The musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will be staged at Grand Forks Central High School.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 24-26.
An additional performance of “Night of the Living Dead Live” is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Red River High School Theatre.
“Night of the Living Dead Live” is a fun and hilarious re-imagining of George Romero’s classic horror film, said Rich McFarlane, the play’s director. “It’s a spoof of the 1968 horror film, and so the entire show is done in black and white -- just like the film.
“‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ is light-hearted and fun,” said the play’s director, Paul Barta.
He and Geoff Mercer, music director, wanted to choose a show that would suit young audiences. Fourth-graders from several Grand Forks school will see the show on Wednesday, Barta said.
“That will be a fun, educational experience for the cast and crew and, hopefully, the fourth-graders in attendance,” he said.
