The UND Wind Ensemble and University Band will perform a combined concert via livestream at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17, under the direction of James Popejoy, UND professor of music.

Due to the pandemic, a live audience will not be allowed for this performance. The livestream can be found on the UND Music Department website,

The University Band will open the concert with “Fanfare for a New Generation,” by Dennis Eveland. Other works will include “Regenesis: Song of the Planet,” by John Higgins, “Concert Variations,” by Claude T. Smith, and “Winter Holiday,” arranged by James Swearingen.

Undergraduate conduct Gabrielle Halliday will lead the band in “A Percy Grainger Suite,” arranged by Frank Erickson.

The Wind Ensemble will perform Julius Fucik’s “Grande Marcia Italiana - Florentiner,” and the first movement of one of the earliest original symphonies for band, Symphony No. 3, “Slavyanskaya,” written by Russian composer Boris Kozhevnikov in 1950.

The group also will perform “Pageant,” by Vincent Persichetti, and Clifton Williams’ “Symphonic Dances.” The program will close with Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.”
