Dakota Bay, a Nashville-based country music group from central North Dakota, will host a virtual concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, on Facebook Live to benefit the Great Plains Food Bank.
The pre-recorded virtual concert will air on the Great Plains Food Bank’s Facebook page.
The event is a means to raise funds for the hunger-relief organization that has seen an increase in food insecurity in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted children, seniors and families across North Dakota and western Minnesota.
The Great Plains Food Bank has seen a 44% increase in the need for food assistance through its partner food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens, and a 79% increase through its Mobile Food Pantry, said Jared Slinda, communications manager.
The organization, which serves as North Dakota’s only food bank, partners with 213 food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens and other charitable feeding programs operating in 99 communities across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota.
