North Dakota native Kat Perkins, a finalist on NBC's sixth season of "The Voice" show, will be "rocking the holidays" beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks.
Her show, titled "Rocking the Holidays," will feature traditional holiday classics as well as Perkins' original songs.
This is the fourth year that Perkins, a singer and songwriter who grew up in Scranton, N.D., is taking her Christmas show on the road.
"Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. It's magical," Perkins said in a news release. "My family had a tradition of getting together and going to some sort of Christmas concert. I looked forward to that every year growing up, and it's why we've worked hard to create a fun, interactive night that the whole family can come together and enjoy."
Growing up in a family of musicians, Perkins knew at an early age she wanted to make performing music her life's career, she said in a biographical statement.
She pursued her ambitions in Minneapolis, where the music scene took notice of her talents in several projects and bands she formed over the years.
Her success on "The Voice" in 2014 led to other opportunities. She has participated in an average of two military tours a year to entertain the troops overseas and performed to sold-out venues across America with a variety of themed performances and tours.
In recent years, Perkins has become a motivational speaker, taking her message-following one's dreams, living fearlessly and having a positive impact on the world-to students and others.
Her work in this area has resulted in the establishment of the Rising Star Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring musical creativity.
