The public is invited to a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in a new art gallery at the Altru Professional Center on South Washington Street.
The PAC Gallery features about 70 works by local and regional artists, said Ra'Chel Alexander, executive director of the Public Arts Commission.
About half of the pieces on exhibit, from the private collection of Bruce Gjovig, Grand Forks, will be displayed long-term. They represent the work of about 60 artists who live in North Dakota and Minnesota or have ties to the region. The other pieces, by six area artists, will be displayed for about four months, Alexander said.
Area artists who wish to display their work in the PAC Gallery can complete an application on the PAC Facebook page.
Works also may be considered for display at another public art space expected to open later this spring at the Alerus Center, Alexander said.
At Thursday's reception in Professional Center, local singer-guitarist Ali Rood will provide musical entertainment. Light refreshments will be served.
Guests are asked to enter Door 14 of the center, located at 4440 S. Washington St.
