A silent auction of ceramic pieces by JoAnn Cory will be part of the annual Muddy Waters Holiday Showcase and Sale this weekend.
The Muddy Waters Clay Center event started Thursday and runs through Sunday at 2014 13th Ave. N. in Grand Forks. Hours are 1-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Cory was a long-time member of the center who passed away about 1 ½ years ago, Center President Don Miller said.
"The silent auction is a way of honoring JoAnn Cory, who was a great supporter of the Muddy Waters Clay Center," he said. "She was the first student in the first class that was offered 10 years ago."
Cory's creations "are nice functional pieces with pretty glazes, kind of delicate," he said.
"She had a very nice sense of design and texture," he said.
Proceeds from the silent auction will go to an "alternative Christmas" program Cory started at her church, United Lutheran, years ago, Miller said.
The program has been renamed the Good Gifts Christmas Fair but is essentially the same, he said.
With the theme, "Ornaments," the Muddy Waters Holiday Showcase and Sale will feature its members' ceramic pieces.
"The front gallery will be filled with tree ornaments," Miller said.
On Sunday, the first 50 visitors to the center will receive a small Christmas ornament, he said.
Studio tours and demonstrations also will be offered, as well as a few door prizes.
