After a week of hints, it’s official -- Metallica is coming to Grand Forks.

The band’s WorldWired Tour will play the Alerus Center on Sept. 8, according to a news release. It’s been almost 30 years since the band played in the city.

Presale for Fan Club members begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 27. Visit for details. Citi card members may purchase tickets at 11 a.m. local time tomorrow, and Spotify will have pre-sale tickets starting Wednesday.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. March 2 at At LiveNation.Com.

On the WorldWired Tour, Metallica brings its in-the-round production, currently being seen in European arenas, to 34 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

At each performance, a Light It Up pre-show party, hosted by Jim Breuer, will get things started with music, comedy, fan interaction and giveaways.

Every ticket includes a standard physical or standard digital copy of “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct.”

Ticket options include early access to the venue and the “Memory Remains” exhibit of memorabilia to meeting some of the band members. For more information, visit .

The band’s performance in Grand Forks will be the fourth stop on the tour, which opens Sept. 2 in Madison, Wis. Other shows are scheduled in Minneapolis on Sept. 4; Lincoln, Neb., on Sept. 6; Sioux Falls, S.D., on Sept. 11, and Winnipeg on Sept. 13.

The tour ends in Grand Rapids, Mich., in March 2019.

Metallica performed at the UND Hyslop Sports Center in June 1989.
