The "Stars and Stripes Show," spotlighting the musical, poetic and artistic talents of area veterans and active duty military personnel, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada Inn in Grand Forks.

All of the performers and artists participating in the show are vets and active military personnel, said Kimberly Forness Wilson, event organizer.

The singers and other entertainers "are all amazing," she said. "(The show) is a treasure chest of talent."

The artwork to be displayed is "very broad—from abstract and loose and creative to very poignant and powerful," she said.

Doors open at 6 p.m.; the buffet opens at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $20 for pre-show tickets and $25 at the door. For pre-show tickets, call (701) 330-3072 or (701) 317-1752.

Proceeds will be used by the Art for Vets organization to provide art and music programs for veterans, military service personnel and their families.

A "Shakespearean Social" fundraising event is set for 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the home of Donna Hastings and Jonathan Geiger in Grand Forks. Everyone is welcome; reservations are requested.

The event will support the North Dakota Shakespeare Company and next year's Shakespeare in the Park program. Last summer's inaugural program, "Romeo and Juliet," drew 1,200 people to the performance in Town Square, Hastings said.

At the social, guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, drinks, "dainties" and fun as they're entertained by members of the North Dakota Shakespeare Company in a casual setting, she said.

A tax-deductible donation of $45 per person is suggested.
