- "Christmas in the Country," 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Bygland Lutheran Church, eight miles south of East Grand Forks on state Highway 220. Lutefisk and meatball dinner, bazaar and bake sale. Adults, $12; ages 6 to 12, $6; 5 and younger, free.

- 15th annual Village Christmas Festival, 1 to 4 p.m., East Grand Forks Heritage Village, Highway 220 North and 20th Street Northeast. Horse-drawn sleigh rides, real live reindeer from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., old-fashioned ornament making, Dakota Science activities, Northern Lights miniature train displays. Also homemade cookies, cocoa and coffee, bake sale and Christmas music in the Village church. Admisson: Free; donations accepted. Sponsor: East Grand Forks Heritage Foundation.

- Bemidji Symphony Orchestra performs Geoffrey Woodley Memorial Messiah/Holiday Concert, 7:30 p.m., Bemidji High School Auditorium. The orchestra will play selections from Handel's "Messiah," and the audience will be invited to sing along on the choruses; plus, many other sacred and secular pieces. Adults/senior citizens, $5; through grade 12, free.
