The Thunderbirds arrived at Grand Forks Air Force Base on Thursday
The Thunderbirds arrived at the Grand Forks Air Force Base on Thursday as the base prepares to play host to the team and other aerial performers at its free Northern Thunder Air & Space Expo this weekend.
The Thunderbirds fly the Air Force’s premier multi-role fighter jet, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, performing daring stunts and maneuvers at high speeds for crowds of thousands at air shows each year. The group will perform for approximately an hour on Saturday.
For the full public event Saturday, gates open at 8:30 a.m. The show begins at 11 a.m. with the Wings of Blue/national anthem and the Thunderbirds will perform at 2:30 p.m. Times are subject to change based on weather, operational or maintenance reasons.
Here is the schedule of events for Saturday, according to an Air Force release:
8:30 a.m.: Gates open
11 a.m.: Wings of Blue/national anthem.
11:45 a.m.: Shockwave
11:50 a.m.: Stearman.
11:55 a.m.: Bf 109 demo.
12:07 p.m.: Yak-52 demo.
12:20 p.m.: Piper Super Cub Comedy Act
12:32 p.m.: Bennett Eagle demo.
12:45 p.m.: Blessed FMX demo.
1:05 p.m.: DHY-115 demo.
1:20 p.m.: Extra 330.
1:55 p.m.: Wings of Blue demo.
2:15 p.m.: Jet Waco
2:30 p.m.: Thunderbirds.
3:30 p.m.: Show end
