The Thunderbirds arrived at the Grand Forks Air Force Base on Thursday as the base prepares to play host to the team and other aerial performers at its free Northern Thunder Air & Space Expo this weekend.

The Thunderbirds fly the Air Force’s premier multi-role fighter jet, the F-16 Fighting Falcon, performing daring stunts and maneuvers at high speeds for crowds of thousands at air shows each year. The group will perform for approximately an hour on Saturday.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
