The first weekend of April brings Sugar on the Roof to East Grand Forks and a smelt fry to Middle River.
It will be gardening Saturday in Grand Forks. University Lutheran Church has cooked up a luau luncheon. All Seasons is featuring music in bloom Sunday. And there's a Polish party Saturday at Southgate.
Once again, spring has returned to the Red River Valley - as it always does.
While the snow is off the rooftops, a group called Sugar on the Roof is booked for the dancing Saturday evening at East Grand Forks Senior Center.

Along with melting snow and swollen streams, there is music in the air. The Grand Forks City Band, directed by Don Langlie, will present a concert. It's at 7 p.m. Monday at Red River High School.
And the Second Wind Band, directed by Don Craig, will wind up its winter concerts in the week ahead. There's a concert scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Larimore. And another at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Mayville.

A. History tells us four women who drew perfect bridge hands in the same deal didn't have a chance to play them.
Mrs. Mark Hinderlie first said she had a perfect hand. It turned out she had 13 diamonds. But then Mrs. Homer Rovelstad had all the clubs. Mrs. Bernard McDermott held all the hearts. Mrs. Bill Blair had all the spaces.
So she won top honors.
