Tractor lovers young and old gathered Saturday afternoon at the Home of Economy in Grand Forks to watch farmers and pullers see just how far they could go during the annual Joe Perkerewicz Memorial Tractor Pull.
The yearly event is a "celebration of the industrious spirit that built the Red River Valley," the Facebook post for the event said. It honors Joe Perkerewicz, a Grand Forks man who had an interest in the restoration of tractors. His passion was antique tractor pulling.
Most of the tractors competing in the event Saturday were from the early to mid-1900s. The drivers were from across the Red River Valley.
Saturday's tractor pull, put on by Northern Pullers, is one of 10 scheduled in the area. Others include Mayville, New Rockford, N.D., and Breckenridge, Minn.
Also part of the event was the Northern Cruz Club, a local vintage car group, whose members showed off their best vehicle.
