GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks residents plant to host a parade for their "hometown heroes": Doctors and nurses at Altru Hospital.
"It's a crazy time (and) They're in the heart of all of it," said Lexy Henning, the organizer of the Grand Forks Community Drive and Live Rally.
On Wednesday, April 8, Grand Forks is planning to show them a little love while keeping physical distance in mind.
"We'll just drive by honk, cheer, and wave, just to say thank you to them so they get a little bit of an uplifting during this hard time," Henning said.
Those interested in joining the parade can drive through, put signs on their cars and wave.
So far, about 40 people and businesses are planning on riding through Altru's parking lot. For safety reasons, participants are not planning on getting out of their cars.
The organizers are hoping to encourage the community to give thanks to those fighting to save lives during this deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's so important that we say 'thank you' and make sure they're in good spirits," Henning said.
Parade participants are planning to meet in the parking lot at Hugo's Family Marketplace, 1315 S. Columbia Road, Wednesday, April 8, at 6:15 p.m.
Those interested in watching the parade can do so from the safety of their home on Facebook.
