Members of the North Dakota American Legion Posts of the Second District and their Auxiliary will meet March 26 at the Legion Club in Park River, N.D., for their 2020 Spring District Meeting.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m., with a social at 5 p.m.
The district includes Nelson, Grand Forks, Walsh and Pembina counties.
District Commander Paul Daley of Park River Post 147 will preside over the session. Department Commander Kenneth Wiederholt, of Gwinner, N.D., and other department officers are planning to attend the event.
The meeting agenda includes an update on youth activities, such as American Legion Boys State to be held in June on the campus of the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, and the 2020 American Legion baseball season.
Representatives will elect a new district commander and a district vice commander for the 2020-21 Legion year.
Joining the members of the district will be area American Legion Department of North Dakota committee members, vice commander, and candidates for various Legion offices who are seeking support at the Department Convention on June 26-28 in Minot.
The Park River Legion Club is located at 108 Fifth St. East.
The North Dakota Department of the American Legion, headquartered in West Fargo, has a membership of nearly 15,000 Legionnaires, 7,000 Auxiliary, and 900 Sons of the American Legion in posts in 209 North Dakota communities.
Chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1919, the Legion serves as a patriotic, mutual-help, wartime veterans’ organization.
