Downtown Street Fair returns this weekend in Grand Forks

According to the DDA, the Downtown Street Fair brought in more than 50,000 people last year and the organization is anticipating higher attendance this year.

GRAND FORKS — The Grand Forks Street Fair will return for its seventh year this weekend.

The Downtown Development Association, along with a number of sponsors, will hold the annual Downtown Street Fair on Friday, Aug. 19, through Saturday, Aug. 20, in downtown Grand Forks on South Third Street, South Fourth Street and Kittson Avenue, and also in Pillsbury Park, Loon Park and Town Square. The event is free to the public and features more than 90 artisans, crafters, and vendors both locally and from across the Midwest, according to a news release.

“We’re excited to bring the community together for the seventh annual Downtown Street Fair,” Jill Proctor, COO at the DDA, said in the news release. “The Downtown Street Fair is an amazing event for visitors and the community to spend time with friends and family, as well as enjoy our vibrant downtown community.”

Street vendors will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Food vendors will also be available throughout the day.

Several streets downtown will be closed beginning Thursday, Aug. 18, as a result of the street fair. The closures will be in place until Sunday.

The closures will include:

  • South Third Street from DeMers Avenue to Kittson Avenue
  • Kittson Avenue from South Third Street to South Fourth Street
  • South Fourth Street from DeMers Avenue to Kittson Avenue

No parking will be allowed in the closure areas.
Additionally, Cities Area Transit buses will be using South Fifth Street for exiting of the Metro Transit Center and there will be no bus pick up service from Kittson Avenue and South Third Street. Riders must use the Metro Transit Center to be picked up within this closure.

The weekly farmers market will also be moving this weekend to Fourth Street between DeMers and Kittson Avenue.

  • Free crafts and coloring activities in Pillsbury Park and Loon Park
  • The BIG Deal Reveal by Arts for Vets in Pillsbury Park and Loon Park
  • UND's Town Square Tech Tent
  • Safe Kids Back to School Safety on Fourth Street on Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Grand Forks Fire Department Spray House on Fourth Street from on Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Flare and Flavor bartender competition on Town Square stage
