The Downtown Development Association along with downtown Greater Grand Forks businesses will host Warm Up with Winter Crazy Days from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1.
The shopping event will be held in downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks and will showcase more than 15 businesses as well as new upgrades to the First Community Credit Union Downtown Ice Rink, provided by the Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and the Knight Foundation. The ice rink is located in Town Square.
Warm Up with Winter Crazy Days features participating businesses, such as Cabela’s and the The Blue Moose in East Grand Forks, Bonzer’s and Valley TechPros in Grand Forks, as they offer goods ranging from outdoor goods, tech products and services to clothing and food and drink.
“The intention is just to get people to come out and do some shopping,” said Blue Weber, executive director of the DDA. “Kind of see what downtown has to offer, all the different businesses, but also to check out the ice rink downtown.”
Free coffee and hot cocoa will be provided at Town Square from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be music and skate-helpers to assist people new to ice skating.
The downtown ice rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., though the rink is closed to the public on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for broomball league play.
