UND's latest research partner in the area of unmanned aircraft systems will be the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The announcement of a three-year research agreement between the two parties came Friday from Sens. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., and John Hoeven, R-N.D.
Under the agreement, UND and DHS would conduct experiments to test technology that counter unlawful or dangerous activities involving unmanned aircraft, develop methods for monitoring UAS traffic and identify harmful uses of the aircraft
