ST. PAUL -- Taprooms and brewpubs across Minnesota could serve on Sundays if the full Senate and House pass measures that move toward seven-day liquor sales.
The Senate commerce committee Wednesday approved a liquor bill that allows Sunday taproom sales as well as "growler" sales and refills that day. Growlers are refillable containers for brewpub beer.
“We’re taking baby steps here with the taproom and growler sales, but it’s a step in the right direction," said Sen. Roger Reinert, D-Duluth. "I’m confident this omnibus liquor bill will pass the Senate; the pressure is now on the House to be progressive and meet the Senate on this issue."
Reinert long has fought to allow liquor sales on Sundays, something now not allowed by the state.
