FARGO
North Dakota State will get another financial lift toward renovating its Bison Sports Arena. The school on Thursday night announced a "major gift announcement" slated for this morning at Scheels in Fargo.
It's expected to be a $5 million donation for the project that got a $10 million booster shot from Sanford Health in September. The $34 million project, which includes a separate $5 million indoor track and field facility, has yet to form a ground-breaking date.
The complex will be called the Sanford Health Athletic Complex, but the school had the option of selling the naming rights to the basketball arena.
Scheels Chief Executive Officer Steve Scheel, NDSU President Dean Bresciani, NDSU Development Foundation Executive Director Jim Miller and NDSU Athletic Director Gene Taylor will present the donation, according to the release. Asked earlier this week about the project and a possible starting date, Taylor said he was still raising money.
