Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Deek’s Pizza is taking necessary steps to keep its employees and customers safe while still supporting the community during uncertain times.
The local pizzeria is even keeping an eye on other restaurants as the food-service industry responds to forced business reductions in Minnesota and North Dakota.
“In a time of uncertainty, a small gesture can go a long way,” said Grand Forks location owner Tyler Kuenzel. “We are trying to support local restaurants by purchasing food to feed our team and we have purchased gift cards to donate to some local first-responders. We have (also) had the pleasure to donate pizzas to fellow businesses.”
To allow customers to enjoy their food while social distancing, the restaurant is offering carryout and delivery options with waived delivery fees for online orders with the promo code "DEEKS." In addition, the team follows a daily, rigorous cleaning routine.
“We want to continue to meet the needs of our customers in ways they feel comfortable,” said Kuenzel.
For those staying within their homes, customers also have the option to have pre-paid, no-contact delivery via instructions they give at checkout that indicate where their order can be left.
As a local business, Deek’s has made it a priority to continue to support the community. For hardworking employees at Hugo’s, Deek’s dropped off pizzas to the Grand Forks and East Grand Forks Hugo's locations.
“Now is the time to work together to support each other,” said Kuenzel.
Furthermore, Deek’s is giving gift cards to students in need by partnering with school social workers to be sure the community’s youth are cared for during school closures.
In a time of national distress, finding positivity is necessary and Deek’s is taking the situation in stride.
“We’re very proud to live and work in such wonderful communities. We are grateful to give something back to the community that gives so much to us,” Kuenzel said. “We are in this together.”
