If UND wins the 2015 Frozen Four, winners from the Grand Forks Herald’s Auction of Champions will have more than one reason to celebrate.
The online auction, which features thousands of dollars in gift certificates from more than 60 businesses that advertise with the Herald, has a special twist: If UND wins the Frozen Four, all winners in the auction will be fully reimbursed for their purchases.

Even if UND doesn’t win, there’s an incentive for both advertisers and auction winners.
According to Betty Feltman, retail ad manager for the Herald, advertisers who participated in the auction were entered into drawings for advertising bonuses, and they were also credited advertising dollars equal to how many gift cards they donated.
If auction winners aren’t reimbursed (in the case that UND doesn’t win) they will most likely still save money in the auction, as gift cards will probably sell for less than their retail value.
