Ferguson Books is expanding to Bismarck next month.
This will be the book store’s first location outside of Grand Forks, turning a page into a new chapter for the bookstore. The grand opening is set for Nov. 10.
The new bookstore will be on East Broadway Avenue.
“We’d had customers come in and ask, ‘have you ever thought about moving to Bismarck,’ or ‘you should open a location in Bismarck,’” said founder Dane Ferguson.
Ferguson took a leave of absence in 2017. After that, he knew the bookstore in Grand Forks was in good hands with its general manager, and he felt ready to make this next move to Bismarck.

Ferguson Books will be Bismarck’s only independent bookstore. There is no plan for the bookstore’s Grand Forks headquarters to change, Ferguson said.
“We’re really excited for this move,” Ferguson said. “Grand Forks will always be home, though.”
