Fourteen companies from North Dakota and western Minnesota are heading to China for a weeklong trade mission to showcase the region's agricultural products.
The trip, which is being organized by the North Dakota Trade Office, the North Department of Agriculture and the Northern Crops Institute at North Dakota State University, will include a conference and exhibition aimed at selling China on the area's agricultural goods.
Crop specialists with the crops institute will give presentations to Chinese buyers and food manufacturers, while chefs will prepare Chinese dishes using North Dakota ingredients, including flax, sunflowers, barley, wheat, flour, pasta, soybeans, peas, lentils and dry edible beans.
"Exports play an important role in North Dakota's growing economy and the events scheduled in China are part of our ongoing commitment to helping businesses expand their presence in high-demand markets throughout the world," North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple said.
The trade mission is from March 16-23.
