ST. PAUL -- After employers cut 200 jobs in May, Minnesota gained 2,900 jobs last month, the state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development said.
A DEED release also said the state’s unemployment rate of 3.9 percent remains below the national average of 5.3 percent.
Education and health services was the biggest gaining sector in June, up 3,200 jobs last month. Construction also added 2,600 jobs during a key month in its busy season.
Manufacturing (800 jobs) and government (600) were among the top losing sectors.

Overall, the state has added 41,602 jobs in the past 12 months. That growth rate of 1.5 percent lags behind the national job growth of 2.1 percent.
